Earth pony sympathizer squad go!

It's barely even funny, and the joke's been done a thousand times before; the alternative for this prompt ("A Board Game") was Pinkie Pie on a skateboard.

No really though, it's nothing special, this, but I decided that the next step in learning How To Art was to take what I learned about layers into practice. This isn't revolutionary, but the process of making this was a lot smoother!

I'm gonna go back to sketches and incomplete stuff to look for ways to change style up a little bit; anatomy, poses, perspective and proportions, that stuff's a gradual process. I just know I want to play around with style more.

I'm not good enough that I can actively decide to change my style, but I will look for ways to change small things away from a pure show style, which is my current default.

AJ's expression is making me crack up...

I like the feeling of this, with the bemusement from Rarity and frustration from AJ, but determination to not be defeated by a game.

Ah, Rarity's mane, it's real hard to draw, I'll tell ya that much.

The whole hooves versus magic aspect is a really interesting topic to look at in Equestria. I mean, Unicorns have magic, Pegasi have really manipulable wings by the look of it, so Earth ponies must have really good hoof control, or an extension, great mouth and tongue control (giggidy). I've even seen it come up and put into great use as a conflict in some fan fiction, where two characters who may be on a date go unwittingly to a restaurant which specifically caters to one of the pony races (a stellar example of what I'm talking about can be found in the fic Two Weeks by Starlitomega, Chapter 3 if you're pressed for time, but I'd recommend giving the whole thing a shot).

As for the art in question, there's some stuff you can work on, biggest of which is giving the ponies more defined haunches, whereas here it kind of looks like the legs are an extrusion off of the body. The basic shape there is fine, and you can see where the haunches would be, but having a more defined line for it would make it look nicer in general. As for the bodies, I'd try to make them flow a little better. By that I mean, for example, the dip between applejack's chest and stomach, that should just be one flowing curve instead of the wavy line here. The same can be said for the neck as well, usually it's just a flowing line connecting the head to the chest circle.

Keep up the good work though man! It's great to see you powering forward.

Rares' mane is the devil. The less said about that, the better. I'm tempted to click-and-read that fic, I really am, but my read list is so damn long.

As far as feedback goes, I really appreciate it! I botched the hindlegs pretty bad, but I'm gonna try something full-body again soon to try to take into account all the feedback I got. Much of what you said is practically word-for-word what another friend of mine said, so it should be simply enough to adjust accordingly, hah. Thanks!

In her frustration, AJ has forgotten she has this highly manipulable part of her body called a “mouth.”

Oh that silly pony! :meow:

Seriously, I can't figure out why I can't come up with humorous responses to prompts like this. This piece made me giggle a whole lot! There's not really a whole lot I can pick at on this one, other than to say keep practicing! You've got the basic idea down in your head, from what I see. Now it's the long process of elimination for those details you like and dislike.
